LN02 Prol2

December 29, 1931. In the dead of night, several Russo Family members, led by the capo Sedley, corner a young man near a factory on the outskirts of Chicago. Though the young man has a large black sword tattoo on his face, he is nothing but a crybaby: teary-eyed and openly admitting to his fear, he pleads for the Russos to put their guns down.

While the tattoo should be proof enough of the young man's identity, his behavior is so unexpected that they demand his name at gunpoint. He confirms he is Jacuzzi Splot, and the Russos are underwhelmed: somehow, this youth really is the leader of the gang currently causing trouble for the Russo Family. They had not even been planning to capture him just now; they had only intended to scout his hideout when they spotted him casually strolling around without guards.

Sedley kicks Jacuzzi to the ground, incredibly letdown. As he kicks Jacuzzi some more, he reminds him of the gang's various transgressions against the Russos: bootlegging liquor without their permission; obstructing Russo businesses; and then robbing businesses under the Russos' protection. Jacuzzi agrees that his gang are punks, but protests that they declared war on the Russos after the Russos killed eight of his friends.

He then interrupts Sedley's threats by again begging the Russos to put down their guns – he does not want to have to kill them. He begs someone called Donny to stop, but to no avail; Donny crushes Sedley's fist – the one holding the gun – in his right hand, while strangling another mafiosi with his left hand. Sedley screams at his men to shoot once Donny releases him, only to realize that all of them are standing unnaturally still. Then, every single one of them collapses, revealing a silver knife buried in each of their heads.

Several other delinquents crowd around Sedley, led by Nice Holystone; a scarred young woman who speaks exceedingly politely despite her appearance. With his back against a wall, Sedley begs Jacuzzi for mercy – but Jacuzzi has already fainted, much to his misfortune, and the rest of the gang murders him in flashy fashion.

Nice decides to set off several fireworks on top of the pile of corpses, which forces Jacuzzi and the gang to sprint from the scene lest they want to be caught by the police. Later, after they have successfully escaped, they make preparations to rob the transcontinental express Flying Pussyfoot.
